propagating Herbs

Herbs You can Propagate.

  • Lavender
  • Rosemary
  • Thyme
  • Oregano
  • Mint
  • Basil
  • Sage

Get a cutting of the herb you would like to propagate, preferably before the woody part . Then take off the leaves towards the bottom of the cutting to make a longer stem.  Lastly add your cuttings to a cup with water and watch it grow.  Occasionally I change the water when it gets dirty and throw away any dead or moldy stems.

If your friend/family member has any herbs in their garden, ask to have some cuttings.  You can also propagate the herbs from the plastic containers that can be purchased at the grocery store ( after you use them for your dinner recipe).  This is a perfect and cheap way to have an indoor herb garden year round.
